Get to know our new Paid Media Manager, Jake

14 August 2020

Time to make yourself a brew and get to know our new Paid Media Manager, Jake.

What made you want to join Machine Compare?

From my first meeting with the team, Machine Compare felt like a company that did things differently. They have a really unique business model and a clear direction, so it felt like a good opportunity.

Just before I started, the company was acknowledged for being one of the most exciting companies in the region and I wanted to be a part of it.

What is it about digital that motivates you?

Digital marketing can be a numbers game as there’s a lot of scrutinising results to ensure performance is consistently improving.

I’m pretty analytical and competitive by nature, so in that sense, it suits me to a tee. It’s also a rapidly progressing industry, so it keeps you on your toes and forces you to keep upskilling.

That’s something that I value highly.

Favourite podcast / digital channel and why?

I listen to a lot of podcasts, but I’d have to choose Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. I’m into my food and it’s hilarious. Plus, they get a lot of good guests on so it ticks a lot of boxes.

What do you like about your new job?

Everyone has been really welcoming and there’s a great culture here. Whilst everyone has their own specialisms, it’s a very collaborative environment as there’s a lot going on. I’ve been fortunate to get working on some great projects from day one.

What do you do outside of work?

I’m quite outdoorsy and have a dog that demands a fair share of my spare time, so I try to get out into the sticks as much as possible. I’m also big on sports so if I’m not playing it, there’s a good chance that I’m watching it.

What are you most looking forward to in your new job?

The most exciting thing for me is seeing where the company goes over the next few years. There are a lot of exciting developments in the pipeline and it genuinely feels like the sky is the limit.
